Denis Lanek, commonly known as President Lanek, is a prominent Ugandan gospel musician and former president of the Federation of Gospel Artists Uganda. Despite being removed from office by the cabinet, he still claims to be the life president of the federation. Lanek is well known for his outspoken personality and his music, which often carries a strong message.
As president of gospel artists in Uganda, Lanek advocated for stronger support for gospel musicians from pastors and Christians. He emphasized that music is not an easy job and requires financial backing to produce quality content. This stance, however, has drawn him into controversies, including a public feud with pastors and fellow gospel artists such as Bishop Kiganda, Levixone, and Coopy Bly. Although he had a fallout with them, Lanek later apologized and was cautioned against making negative comments about Coopy in the future.

Recently, he released a new song titled Bakola Error (meaning “They made a big mistake not to accept Jesus”). The song carries a spiritual message, suggesting that rejecting Jesus or His teachings can lead to regret or a longing for a deeper connection with faith. Such a decision, Lanek explains, can affect one’s sense of purpose, moral guidance, and community.
The song has become a huge hit with the public, topping various playlists and gaining thousands of views on social media. Its success has revitalized his music career and brought him back into the spotlight.
