Former NEC FC head coach Hussein Mbalangu has spoken about his surprise departure from the club, stating, “I was not officially unveiled as NEC FC head coach, I just started training the team, and maybe itโs the same way I have left.

Mbalangu’s contract was mutually terminated by NEC FC on November 5, 2025, following a two-month suspension for his involvement in the Masaza Cup with Ssingo. The CAF A-licensed coach had led NEC FC to notable achievements, including a second-place finish in the Uganda Premier League last season and a Stanbic Uganda Cup final appearance in 2024.

In a heartfelt statement, Mbalangu expressed gratitude to the club’s management, technical team, players, and fans for the experience. “I had been honored and privileged to serve as Head Coach of NEC FC, facing challenges, celebrating victories, and building memories that I would always hold dear,” he said.

Mbalangu’s departure marks the end of an era for NEC FC, with Kaddu Badru Mukasa appointed as his successor. Mbalangu wished the club continued success, saying, “I leave with immense pride in what we achieved together and full respect for everyone associated with the club”
